Shout it from the rooftops, we have a little man on the way.
A BOY!
You know we thought it was a girl. We were convinced! So to say we were surprised is an understatement. It's time to start thinking about boy things! Something tells me little man won't appreciate looking back at old pictures of him sleeping in a pink crib and pink clothes...so it looks like a sale of the old crib, and a purchase of a gender-neutral crib is in order. Who knows how many more we may have; we better prepare just in case! Also, BOY CLOTHES (question mark?) Or should it be BOY CLOTHES (exclamation!)? So far, I'm a bit underwhelmed by the boy clothing market. However, I was recently gifted some adorable newborn boy onesies with peanuts and elephants on them, so I know there is hope out there somewhere! Also, I'm preparing to rock the Celebrate The Boy archives.
Also, thoughts on sharing a room. Our plan so far is to have the kiddos share a room once Little Man moves out of our room. I'll be honest that it's a little bit selfish on my part...I really don't want to give up my sewing room! At the same time, I'm a big stickler for a sleeping baby. So what happens when one babe is fussing it up in the room? Then the other babe wakes up all cranky-pants too! Momma doesn't deal well at 2am when multiple babies are fussing. At the same time, I've heard lots of good things about sibling room-sharing. It builds life skills, or so my M.I.L. (mother-in-law) saw on the teevee. Mr. Tee's siblings shared rooms throughout the years, as did my sister and I. So there's the dilemma. To share or not to share? Or the real question: To give up sewing room, or not to give up sewing room?
So there are the current thoughts of the day. BOY! Clothes!/? Room? Input, please!

Boy clothes definitely don't storm the stores as much as darling girl clothes but it turns out there are lots of cute boy clothes too. I love a baby boy in overalls and I love the jeans and sweatshirt look on my little boy! Between sports, snimals, dinos, and transportation themes you end up with more options than you thought. Have fun with it!! I love the idea of room sharing. I don't know if I'd have a brother and sister share a room though once they get much older than 3...no theory to necessarily go with that besides my own though. :)
ReplyDeleteSO SO excited for y'all!! Mabel will be such an adorable big sister. I'm just giddy all over!! I recently discovered this adorable line of fabric, and am thinking of making some bedding for my girls when they share a room, but there are UBERadorable girl, boy, and gender neutral prints that would be DARLING for a little girl/boy bedroom! Check it out!! http://www.sarahjanestudios.com/blog/2011/05/09/introducing-children-at-play/
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of cute boy clothes to be found, but the selection is smaller. Our kiddos share a room out of necessity. Sometimes we have rough nights, but for the most part sharing the room has not been a problem.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had to think about sharing rooms yet, but one thing I do know is that great boy clothes aren't as abundant as girl ones...nor are they as easy to make. However, they can be found and they can be made...just search hard! Good luck guys! We are so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteOy, I wish I had input for you on the room sharing. alas, I do not. But there are lots of cute boy clothes, my favorites were always at target and ross. Little boy toys are really fun too! so exciting for guys you to have one of each!! :)
ReplyDeleteSpencer and Kaden share a room...I love it! Sometimes they can get a little crazy...they shared a room since Kaden was 6 months old. And plus if I had a sewing room I would not give it up easily!
